The Irish Laser Association is delighted to announce that the 2021 Masters Championship, sponsored by MGM Boats will be taking place in Royal St. George Yacht Club on June 12-13.
This year’s event will be run in strict compliance with Irish Sailing’s recommendations for covid-safe event planning. In essence, this means that much of the on-site activities that normally take place at the club will be virtual, including the race office and protest committee. Participants are reminded to maintain social distancing ashore and are encouraged to wear face coverings before and after sailing.
We want to especially thank MGM Boats who have come on board as our main sponsor for the 2021 event. Founded in 1997 MGM Boats has grown from a family-owned Boat Sales and Service Outlet to a highly successful International Brokerage company with established bases in Ireland, UK, and the Mediterranean.
The Masters category of Laser sailing is for sailors aged 35 and over. Prizes will be awarded for the top three places overall in the Standard and Radial rigs.
In addition there will be prizes in each of the 5 different Masters age categories:
- 35 to 44 – Laser Standard Apprentice or Laser Radial Apprentice
- 45 to 54 – Laser Standard Master or Laser Radial Master
- 55 to 64 – Laser Standard Grand Master or Laser Radial Grand Master
- 65 to 75 – Laser Standard Great Grand Master or Laser Radial Great Grand Master
- 75 and over – Laser Standard Legend or Laser Radial Legend
For the first time ever, female sailors will be able to compete for the Radial Ladies trophy sponsored by MGM Boats.
We are grateful to Lennon Racewear who have generously provided prizes for a raffle that all entrants will automatically be entered in.
Early bird entry for the Masters event is open from Monday 17th to Sunday 30th May. Event entries close on Friday 4th June.
An event WhatsApp group will be shared with all entrants.
